Re-Imagining Linux Platforms to Meet the Needs of Cloud Service Providers
"ParView, a leading developer of golf course management
systems and Applied Data Systems (ADS), a leading developer of
applicationready embedded systems, will introduce an embedded
Linux golf course management system at LinuxWorld Expo in San
Jose. ADS completed the Linux port to the Graphics Client
Plus, the company's flagship single board computer system based on
Intel's StrongARM SA1110 processors and integrated with an active
color 10.4'' touchscreen display. ParView integrated its golf
course management software into the system and installed the unit
into the front panels of the golf carts."
"Intel continues to provide StrongARM solutions into the
expanding embedded Linux and wireless markets. We are pleased with
how this application highlights the low power and performance
strengths of our product," said Mark D. Casey, marketing director
for Intel's handheld division."
"ParView's application showcases ADS' utilization of the 206 MHz
StrongARM and its power management and flat panel drivers. One of
the advantages of the StrongARM processor is its low demand on
power. This application uses less than 2 watts at full operation.
The system has an automatic idling feature that suspends the power
to the LCD when the cart is not in active use."
