Re-Imagining Linux Platforms to Meet the Needs of Cloud Service Providers

" Under the terms of this contract, IntraLinux is pre-qualified to perform these services for any State entity under a simplified procurement procedure and avoid competitive bidding in most cases."

"IntraLinux has performed several State projects since 1995 including Disaster Recovery Planning for the Department of Motor Vehicles, Project Oversight for the Franchise Tax Board, and Strategic Planning for the California Community Colleges Chancellors Office. "The new MSA contract sets the stage for increased business volume with the State of California," says IntraLinux Vice President for Sales, Kelley Stockton. "In addition to our general information technology experience, we hope to put our Linux skills and products to use to help State entities do a better job of networking and information processing."

"IntraLinux provides on-site support and custom installation and specializes in providing Linux networking and applications solutions in the server space. In most cases, the State will be able to preserve its investment in desktop computers and still benefit from using Linux in the network. "The Windows desktop connects adequately with a Linux server," states Cliff Kemper, CTO at IntraLinux, "Why throw away the de facto industry standard PC? Windows and the MS Office Suite are better general business desktop solutions today than many Linux distributions, in our opinion. This is due to factors like installed base, user acceptance/skill, available low cost business applications, compatibility with other business users and so on-our business is providing an optimal and smooth transition from an NT or Novell server to a more reliable Linux server."
