Re-Imagining Linux Platforms to Meet the Needs of Cloud Service Providers
"AbriaSoft, a Silicon Valley provider of database solutions,
announced today its release of Abria SQL Standard, its first
packaged MySQL distribution. AbriaSoft is the first company to
integrate MySQL, which was released under a General Public License
(GPL) a few weeks ago into its own specialized distribution."
"The Abria SQL Standard distribution features the latest
stable release of MySQL, the Apache Web server, PHP4, PERL 5.6 and
other integrated components, in a turnkey RPM (RedHat Package
Modules) install. Comprehensive tools for managing MySQL and
the Apache Web Server are also included in the package. Abria SQL
products operate on the RedHat 6.x on Intel, Red Hat 6.2 on Sparc
and Yellow Dog Champion 1.2 and on Power PC (PPC) platforms. With
the installation of Abria SQL Standard, older versions of MySQL are
automatically upgraded to the newer versions."
"One of the biggest features of Abria SQL Standard is the
painless and quick installation that takes no more than ten
minutes," said Mark Gerow, program manager for AbriaSoft. "The
installation program intelligently handles upgrades, downgrades and
complex dependency conflicts and issues common with Linux software
installations, allowing anyone to benefit from the speed and power
of MySQL almost immediately."
