"This is Linux. Open source and completely staffed by volunteers. Many find it hard to believe that such a project could ever be successful. In fact, many people are saying it hasn't been entirely successful-but Linus thinks so. After all, he's the one who awarded them the $20,000 at Linux World this year."

"Right before Linux World, in fact, Debian reached a milestone, Potato, or 2.2. Immediately after that, a couple distributions started using the 2.2 kernel, including such popular ones as Stormix's Storm Linux 2000, which I reviewed last month, as well as Corel Linux (which I haven't got around to reviewing) and Libranet Linux."

"A lot of people absolutely love Debian, and what's not to like? Their package system isn't bested by anybody out there. It features the option to go out and actually fetch needed libraries-I'd like to see RPM do that! As you can see, Debian may seem difficult to work with at first, but a well-configured system will reward you greatly."
