"Metrowerks, the Motorola subsidiary that invested $22.5 million in their new embedded Linux partner Lineo on September 25, is happily settling into what the company hopes will be a long and lucrative relationship."
"Greg Stoner, vice president of marketing for Metrowerks, said the subsidiary was the "lead for Motorola on this investment, providing an entry into the open source movement and establishing a strong presence in Linux, particularly embedded Linux, for future applications."
"The decision to work with Lineo in particular, Stoner said, was due to the company's ability to support a broad range of architectures. "Lineo has support for architectures that customers are demanding now," he continued, "including PowerPC, 68K, ColdFire and M-CORE, as well as future architecture."
