"The inaugural InstallFest, InstallFest 2000, came to an end last month with Perth being the final city. Following is a summary of each event as well as coverage of future plans for InstallFests down under, including those for a national InstallFest day."

"The making of a national event"

"Traditionally, Installfests are associated with Linux user groups (LUGs) who advertise among their members and communities that an Installfest is about to happen. The thought of having a national event was introduced by Richard Russell. While organising an Installfest for Adelaide, Russell suggested the idea to Linux Australia on the organisation's mailing list. From there the idea was avidly taken up by all the other major LUGs in the country and before long Installfest 2000 had its own Web site at www.linux.org.au/installfest."
