Re-Imagining Linux Platforms to Meet the Needs of Cloud Service Providers

"Knox Software (Knox), a Southern California-based supplier of enterprise network backup software, announced today that Intel Corporation (Intel) will package the Knox flagship product, Arkeia, with the Intel NetStructure 1010 and 1020 Hosting Appliances. Built on open source technology, Intel's new e-Business Data Center rack mount hosting products offer scalable, reliable, high-performing Web and mail hosting, with a flexible hardware and software configuration that can be easily and quickly upgraded. The Arkeia backup solution will provide system administrators with the high performance, professional-caliber software necessary to back up multiple server appliances simultaneously across a LAN onto centrally located tape storage devices."

"The Arkeia software offers backup flexibility and performance that Service Providers need to help safeguard their data," said Lee Rand, director of marketing, Intel's Internet Management and Appliance Division. "The Intel NetStructure 1010 and 1020 Hosting appliances offer the ability to host numerous web sites and provide email to customers. The Arkeia software provides a means to rapidly back up the Intel appliances." "Service Providers host enormous amounts of data for their clients, and it's their responsibility to see that the data is backed up," said Phil Roussel, CEO of Knox Software. "We're pleased that Intel has recognized Arkeia's ability to get data stored across multiple servers backed up quickly and completely."
