From the lpi-announce mailing list on 11 October 2000:

LPI had a booth at the LinuxWorld (IDG) show in Frankfurt (Germany), and I
attended. It was not a particularly exciting show; there were some
interesting forum discussions featuring celebs like Linus and Maddog, and
the KDE team got the IDG award. It was worthwhile for me to go there,
meet the LPI supporters from Germany, and discuss current issues. The
(free) booth was in a remote corner, so traffic was low (maybe 20 people a
day); my presentation on Saturday morning had low attendance (about a
dozen). Nevertheless, most who did drop by had been looking for us and
were very interested. Also I had very useful meetings and discussions
with people collaborating in the Linux Verband, which takes care of LPI
affairs in Germany. Some themes that were identified as important, so
will receive more attention, are:

        Level 2
        non-NT test delivery
        translation of exams into German
        publishing news in German

Last but not least, with Sabine Gold of the LiVe I had an interview with a
German magazine that surely will help make LPI certification better known
in Germany.

I like to thank the show organizers (IDG) for making a spacious booth
available, and especially the people who helped me at the booth, and their
companies for their support:

        Anke Boernig (SuSE)
        Sabine Gold (LiVe)
        Karin Miers (LinupFront)
        Jana Moeckel (Innominate)
        Christian Zens (iD-Pro)
