"Various local LUGs and I had the pleasure of socializing with, listening to, and learning from Peter Salus last week. Peter has quite the melting pot of community achievements and technical experiences as he's been involved in the technical community now for, as he says, 40 plus years."

"Peter is currently the Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO) of Matrix.net (formerly MIDS). When asked one evening about his current title, Peter chuckled. It turns out that the title came about during a venture capitalists meeting. Someone in the venture capitalists group stated that there weren't enough "Chiefs" in the company. When Peter was asked what he did within the company, someone else chimed in stating that "Peter is the one who knows everything about everything!". Hence the title Chief Knowledge Officer. This unique title is well earned, I can guarantee that...."

"Several large and powerful organizations which must credit Peter for their growth and existence are Usenix, the Free Software Foundation, and the Tcl/Tk Consortium. Peter is a former Executive Director of Usenix, holding office at Usenix in the beginning years of the organization in the early 1970s. Peter was also the Vice President of the Free Software Foundation and is currently the Director of the Tcl/Tk Consortium."
