"My previous column detailed the install of Redhat 7 which was, as all Redhat installs have been for me, flawless. This column and the next will cover my experiences with Redhat 7 so far. I've had it installed a little over a week now and have spent a lot of time using it. My experience, aside from a few trivial issues, has been peachy."

"I've seen people complaining about the install for Redhat 7 locking up, but it never did for me. 5.2 didn't, 6.0 didn't and 7 didn't."

"I'm not sure of the reason behind this, but it could be due to the various exotic pieces of hardware available today. There's probably a million and one combinations of hardware. I guess I'm just lucky in that respect. My system may be ancient by today's standards, a meager Pentium 166 with 32 MB of ram, but sometimes having an old computer can pay off."

"So, the install was easy, but that's all for naught if the distribution is garbage. Unless you've been hiding under a rock or don't read sites like Slashdot, the press, in my opinion, has been less than stellar and even wildly inaccurate about Redhat 7."
