"Sick of good old Golden Rule days? Break out of the educational box. Try Libre Software School Days. Evolved from continuing mailing list discussions in Italy and France throughout the summer of 2000, the Libre Software School Day group's mission is to assist Linux user groups (LUGs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in enlightening school administrators about free software's utility through educational materials and demonstrations of free, or "libre", software."
"These events are locally organized by local NGOs and LUGs. One such event, planned for January, 2001, is a demonstration for the teachers' association of Clermont-Ferrand, France, according to Raphael Calvelli, one of Libre Software School Day's organizers. Similar events are in the planning stage for Binghamton, N.Y., and Centralia, Wash. sometime in 2001."
"The organization is currently only active in Italy, through Software Libero per la Scuola, in France through Association Pour la Promotion et la Recherche en Informatique Libre (APRIL, the Association for Promotion and Research in Libre Computing) and the Association Francophone des Utilisateurs de Linux et des Logiciels Libres (AFUL, the Association of French-Speaking Users of Linux and Free Software), and in Colombia through Software Libre y Educación en Colombia (SLEC, Free Software and Education in Colombia). Belgium may be next on the list, Calvelli says."
