Smart Partner: Will The NT Certification Show Go On?

"As reported, Microsoft plans to pull the plug on its NT certification program at the end of this year, in favor of a Windows 2000 certification initiative. Testing specialist Lanop, meanwhile, is stepping into the void with its own NT Certified Independent Professional (NT-CIP) effort."

"Still, the NT-CIP program faces some hurdles. Microsoft has openly dismissed the need for ongoing NT certification programs. And the software giant can't be pleased by some of Lanop's Web content. For instance, Lanop's Linux certification program openly bashes Microsoft."

"According to Lanop's site: "When you have a problem [with Linux], you will find an abundance of willing helpers on the Internet. You will never again be at the mercy of a half-trained support person in the Microsoft office who would think nothing of putting you 'on hold' while he or she goes to lunch."
