Both applications are used for maintaining software on a system,
but they each have their own specialty.
Kpackage is probably best used for installing
and removing single packages, such as downloaded RPMs. RpmDrake is
used to install software packages from locations that have been
"cataloged", such as the Installation CDs.
RpmDrake is an "apt-like" utility in that it can
resolve dependency problems while installing RPMs -- the
command-line equivalent is "urpmi".
