"E-smith, a vendor of Linux-based network server software, this week rolled out a partner program and aims to recruit about 260 resellers by the end of 2001."

"The company's Authorized Partner Program provides participants with technical support, marketing and tradeshow support, and access to a partner-specific Web site. During the first quarter, E-smith will begin offering certification training for up to two technicians per partner. The training is free, although joining the program involves a $500 annual fee and a per-server charge. The company's flagship product is the e-smith Server and Gateway, a Linux-based software product that converts a Pentium-class PC into a network server."

"E-smith targets small businesses 5 to 100 users with its Linux wares. Local and regional integrators and resellers as well as system builders represent the company's primary channel to reach that customer set. E-smith's partner program initially has signed up 19 companies. In addition, the company has a partnership with Reynolds & Reynolds Co. in which the integrator will provide a customized version of the e-smith Server and Gateway to automotive retailers."
