"2.4 Kernel Pre-Production Release Available from VA Linux."

"VA Linux Systems, Inc. today announced the immediate availability of its first pre-production release of the new Linux 2.4 kernel, offered via ftp at ftp://ftp.valinux.com/pub/kernel/. The eagerly-awaited Linux 2.4 kernel, available as source code at www.kernel.org, is now also available as an executable binary compiled and packaged by VA Linux in the widely-used RPM and DEB formats."

"The pre-production release now available through VA Linux Systems is designed to facilitate customer testing of the 2.4 kernel in a pre-production environment, in parallel with testing by VA Linux Software Engineering. Full production release of the 2.4 kernel on VA Linux servers and storage systems is expected later in 2001."
