Linux-Mandrake Security Update Advisory: wu-ftpd updateJan 14, 2001, 09:49 (1 Talkback[s])Date: Fri, 12 Jan 2001 11:31:02 -0700 Linux-Mandrake Security Update Advisory Package name: wu-ftpd Advisory Date: January 12th, 2001 Original Advisory Date: January 10th, 2001 Advisory ID: MDKSA-2001:001-1 Affected versions: 6.0, 6.1, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2 Problem Description: WireX discovered a temporary file creation bug in the 2.6.1 release of wu-ftpd. The problem exists in the privatepw helper program. As well, Linux-Mandrake 7.2 users must update to this package as it fixes security problems as discussed in the prior advisory, MDKSA-2000:014, which had not been previously addressed for 7.2. Update: All of the updated packages for Linux Mandrake versions 6.0 through 7.1 and the packages for Corporate Server 1.0.1 had an incorrect dependency on the xinetd package which prevented MandrakeUpdate from installing the updates. Updated packages for these versions have been released that are no longer dependant upon xinetd. Please verify the update prior to upgrading to ensure the
integrity of the downloaded package. You can do this with the
command: Linux-Mandrake 6.0: Linux-Mandrake 6.1: Linux-Mandrake 7.0: Linux-Mandrake 7.1: Linux-Mandrake 7.2: Corporate Server 1.0.1: To upgrade automatically, use <<MandrakeUpdate>>. If you want to upgrade manually, download the updated package from one of our FTP server mirrors and uprade with "rpm -Uvh package_name". You can download the updates directly from: Or try one of the other mirrors listed at: http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/ftp.php3. Updated packages are available in the "updates/[ver]/RPMS/" directory. For example, if you are looking for an updated RPM package for Linux-Mandrake 7.1, look for it in "updates/7.1/RPMS/". Updated source RPMs are available as well, but you generally do not need to download them. Please be aware that sometimes it takes the mirrors a few hours to update, so if you want an immediate upgrade, please use one of the two above-listed mirrors.
