"Robert J. Chassell sent us a very nice tutorial to using
gnuplot via GNU Emacs Calc mode, in response to our request for
tutorials on the use of gnuplot. We hope to make it available
"We also received an offer of older systems running Linux, to be
donated to educational institutions, from a company in the San
Francisco area. We gratefully accepted the offer and have found
homes for them in interested schools."
"One of the threads that has come up on our mailing list
recently talks about educators' experiences with getting help and
support from the Linux community. From the discussion it seems that
there are interested educators out there trying to put Linux
systems and computer labs together on their own and experiencing
some difficulties. They often aren't aware of what local resources
are available in their areas, and don't quite know where to look
for help. This is where local LUGs can be of great use! If your LUG
is looking for a project to get involved in, especially one that
gives something to your community, you should consider contacting
area school districts, parochial schools, private schools, and
community centers. For the school districts you may want to speak
to the technical director; for the rest, just explain what you have
to offer and ask to speak to someone appropriate."
