"During his LinuxWorld presentation Thursday, Transmeta CEO Dave Ditzel said the microprocessor startup will launch yet another microprocessor later this year--the TM 5800, which will run at up to 1 GHz while offering similar battery life and power-consumption capabilities as its predecessors."

"There are a number of companies working on a new breed of servers with hundreds of [Crusoe] processors on a single rack," he said."

"Ditzel added that the power consumption features of Crusoe are in great demand, given the recent spate of power blackouts in California."
