Tonight LIVE on www.thelinuxshow.com

At 6pm pst, 7pm rmt, 8pm cst, and 9pm east.... Kevin Hill, Jeff Gerhardt, PJ Hyett, Doc Searls(Linux Journal), Arne Flones and Emmett Plant(Binary Freedom) have another great show lined up tonight on The Linux Show!!

In Segment One - Hot News: We will be covering the hot Linux news of the week. Incuding a Review of this past weekends "Technology Summit II"

In Segments Two -Bruce Perens:- What's Going On About Open-Sourcing the OpenMail Program and other interesting manifestations at HP.
We will be joined by Bruce Perens, well know Open Source maven and business start up expert (and a survivor of Linuxfest 2000). Bruce is presently in the role of Senior Strategist for Linux and Open Source for the Hewlett-Packard Corporation. We will be discussing the controversy over the demise of OpenMail. Hewlett-Packard has decided to stop development on its Award Winning HP OpenMail Server after release 7.0. HP has pledged to support customers of versions 6 and 7 for the next five years. This procuct is/was one of the finest new products, and was being touted by the Linux community as a BETTER "exchange server" than Microsoft's own product.

We will discuss with Bruce the process behind shutting down development. We will look at long term plans such as selling the product versus opening up the source. It is indeed a very messy and complicated issue.

In Segments Three - More OpenMail A few takes from the community.
We will continue the conversation with Bruce Perens but expand the conversation to include some of the more controversial observations within the Open Source development community. In particular we will be joined by Nicholas Petreley and will discuss his article where he suggests that "Closing down OpenMail, It's not about profit....Hewlett-Packard fears Microsoft more than it loves OpenMail." Should be an interesting conversation.

Other opinions are welcome. If you would like to join us on the show, check our our IRC Chat (irc.thelinuxshow.com #linuxshow).

Remember tune in at 6pm pst, 7pm rmt, 8pm cst, and 9pm est.
