The files for Release Candidate 1 of PostgreSQL 7.1 are now
available for download at PostgreSQL.org.
The release candidate phase follows beta testing and is the last
phase before a version's official release. Improvements of note in
this release include:
full support for outer joins
removal of the notorious 8k row length limit
write-ahead logging performance enhancement
even greater support for complex queries
support for a larger number of complex queries
a boost in overall performance (speed)
improvements to the JDBC and ODBC interfaces and backup/restore
features
Fuller support for ANSI SQL92 standards.
Version 7.1 includes contributions from more than 120 members of
the PostgreSQL open source development community.
