According to this report, Red Hat Linux will not be supporting
the Linux Standard Base specification 1.0, and would consider doing
so in six months' time.
"However, at least one leading Linux distribution - Red Hat -
does not conform to LSB 1.0. Furthermore, it is unclear whether
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina-based Red Hat Inc will - or
should - conform to LSB as its Linux distribution effectively
becomes a de-facto standard through its growing customer base."
"Red Hat software engineer Matt Wilson, who worked on LSB 1.0,
said that it was common Red Hat practice not to support draft
standards because they could change. He added he thought LSB would
take at least six months to achieve industry acceptance, and that
interest would probably come from large ISVs like Oracle Corp and
IBM, who contributed to LSB 1.0 and have vested interests in
Linux."
