A reader writes:

"Public schools in the U.S. are generally not known for having a wealth of cash on hand. A school might want to update its computing labs to the latest and greatest hardware and Windows software -- but not for a cool $20,000, especially when such setups would be obsolete faster than Bill Gates can say 'Monopoly? What monopoly?' Enter the K12 Linux Terminal Server Project, which can provide schools with a Linux server and use their existing 'obsolete' hardware at a fraction of the cost -- around $6.000 or less."

An added note: Folks in Riverdale, Oregon, will want to check out the Open House at Riverdale School, for the celebration of the 1.0 release of K12LTSP. Why on July 4? For the obvious reason: freedom.
