This is an article meant for newbies, full of advice for folks who want to try Linux without repartioning their PC and possibly losing their Windows partition. "Some Linux installations require that you partition your hard drive, which entails setting aside special space for the system code. Screw this up, and you can lose most of what's on your hard drive."
