Enterprise Linux Today: Mitel Networks Acquires e-smith

Telecommunications company Mitel has acquired e-smith, which produces Linux-based firewall and gateway server appliance software for small-to-midsized businesses:

"Mitel Networks today announced it has acquired e-smith, a leading edge provider of open-source network server software for Small and Medium Enterprises (SME). The addition of e-smith's proven application infrastructure to Mitel Networks portfolio extends the seamless delivery of integrated voice and data solutions to include e-mail, Web and file server applications, and enhanced networking capabilities.

This acquisition brings Mitel Networks highly-regarded expertise in building secure, customizable server software solutions that address the unique needs of the SME marketplace, while at the same time creating significant new opportunities in the emerging open-source development community. E-smith, founded 2 1/2 years ago, has successfully developed and marketed e-smith Server and Gateway, an award-winning Linux-based software suite currently in use on over 50,000 servers worldwide."
