In addition to advertising in Linux magazines, Microsoft appears
to be reaching out to touch someone, and perhaps steal away some
knowledge from the open source community. On Wednesday, August 1,
2001, a person identifying his self as a "Microsoft Technologist"
sent an E-mail to the Metro Detroit Linux User Group (MDLUG). The
message was a request for an open discussion between the user group
and Microsoft representatives. The text is quoted below:
Are you possibly [open to] having a couple MS guys come
in for an open session where your users could pretty much ask any
question they want? I am trying to do this as information sharing.
No sales pitch, PPT's, just good dialog and hopefully I get to
learn something from you guys. Please let me know if you are
interested. [signature withheld]
The user group is wondering just what Microsoft is up to.
Stay tuned... bernie wirtz
