The Summit Open Source Development Group (SOSDG) is looking for people willing to help develop the Summit Blocking List, a replacement for the now subscription-based RBL list. We are still in development of the backend, but right now we currently have a working DNS based lookup system in place and are blocking the address of known spamming hosts and open relays. The goal is to create an open system that can be used by anyone and that everyone can play an active role in.
Right now, we are in need of people with programming abilities (to help create a lookup and submission system, as well as an automated system to check to see if a server is an open relay. All software licenses must be open source compatible), people who are willing to take spam submissions and add them to the database if it is warranted (and remove them as necessary), and people who can be offical secondary DNS servers of the database.
