"There are a few things missing - the Zaurus doesn't
have any built-in speakers other than a small piezo for alarms nor
does it have a jogwheel - but for the most part the hardware is
quite nice. The interface is still a bit patchy and definitely
needs some work before the consumer device is released. There isn't
a consistent look and feel to the built-in applications nor do all
of those applications allow you to do all of the basic operations
you'd expect (for instance, you cannot delete a text file from
within the text editor) but Sharp seems quite willing to hear these
concerns and hopefully will address them in the future.
I don't want to turn this into a device review - that will come
later - so I'm going to stop now. Suffice it say that the Zaurus
has a lot of potential but it remains to be seen how far it will
actually come and whether it will be a viable alternative to Palm
and Pocket PC devices.
If you're interested in further information on the Zaurus and
discussions concerning the Zaurus, visit ZaurusZone. You can also
expect a review of the device on PalmStation in the future."
