MontaVista Software Inc., the company powering the embedded revolution, today announced that its flagship product, MontaVista Linux 2.1, will support the new Intel PXA 210 and Intel PXA250 Applications Processors.

The Intel PXA210/250 Applications Processors are based on the Intel XScale microarchitecture and are designed for next-generation wireless and connected devices such as full-featured handheld communication devices and advanced PDAs. Manufacturers of these devices need embedded technologies that deliver high-performance, robust functionality and versatility, while meeting the small-size and low-power restrictions of their portable, battery-operated products.

"Intel is pleased that MontaVista Software will be offering its embedded Linux products for the Intel PXA210 and Intel PXA250," said Mark Casey, director of marketing for Intel's Handheld Computing Division. "MontaVista's experience and expertise in the Linux arena and the wireless and handheld embedded OS market makes MontaVista Linux 2.1 a logical complement for Intel's new processors."
