"Guillaume Boissiere, maintainer of the Linux Kernel 2.5 Status
list, recently posted a new version of his list divided into three
categories: 'likely to be merged before the Halloween feature
freeze', 'likely not to be ready by Halloween', and 'ongoing work'.
He prefaced his list by asking, 'Do you think the breakdown is
"Among those to answer was Dave Jones, who provided a wealth of
information regarding upcoming 2.5 projects. Regarding the list of
items to be merged after the feature freeze, Robert Love suggested,
'Easily 90% of this stuff should _not_ go in after the freeze. It
either needs to make it in now or hold its breath until 2.7.' Rik
van Riel agreed, 'What we need is a 2.6 that is relatively easy to
stabilise, not one that'll take until 2.6.20 to become stable.'
Guillaume followed up with a new copy of the list based on the
received feedback, this time broken into five sections..."
