PPC Roundup
----------------------------------------
MandrakeForum.com -- MandrakeClub and Mandrake PPC: A perfect match.
Denis writes: "Until recently, Mandrake/PPC has been like an orphaned
child, but not anymore: MandrakeClub has just "adopted" it, and PPC
distribution has finally got a real home where it can grow and prosper
for as long as Mandrake/PPC users and developers are interested in it."

PPC Users -- Make your voice heard!
The future of Mandrake PPC depends heavily on the involvement of its
users. Vincent Danen asks that all Mandrake PPC users take a more
active role to help influence the continued development of the PPC port:
"...maybe we can encourage some positive interest in the PPC port again
by making ourselves a little more vocal and a little more known [...]
Showing some interest via Club is a good way to go. Purchasing 8.2/PPC
(on sale now for Club members!) and subscribing to the Club are also
great ways to make your voice heard for future versions."

Business Case of the Week
----------------------------------------
Internet/E-commerce: Bits or Bytes makes the switch to Mandrake Server.
When the web hosting company 'Bits or Bytes' needed an alternative to
their Windows 2000 server which was constantly crashing, they turned to
Mandrake Linux.

David Smith, CEO of Bits or Bytes, explains:
"We decided to install Mandrake 8.2, since we could use it as a
workstation and server. [...] I can run all the applications I want and
get work done faster now between the new Mandrake Admin Server and our
core server. It also opens up the whole other side of things since we
already have a Unix Solaris server."

"I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a truly robust server
and workstation combination. Also for all you Windows geeks, make the
leap, it is actually very easy to setup."

Spotlight on MandrakeSecure.net
----------------------------------------
MandrakeSecure.net is the most recent additional to MandrakeSoft's
family of websites. MandrakeSecure.net offers numerous resources for
up-to-date security information, including papers on a wide variety of
subjects that pertain to Linux security. When MandrakeSecure.net was
first launched in November 2001, only a few people stopped by. In
December of that year, the number of visitors started to grow and
remained consistant (approx 300k hits) until Feb 2002. Since then,
visits have fluctuated between 627k hits (March) to 890k hits (June),
and keeps growing.

It appears that MandrakeSecure.net is becoming widely recognized as a
valuable security resource not only for Mandrake users, but for all
Linux users as well. Providing reliable security information to
Mandrake customers in such a way that all Linux users can benefit
represents the best of the Open Source philosophy.

Software Updates
----------------------------------------
Security-related software updates have been released for:

hylafax -- fixes multiple vulnerabilities
gaim -- fixes URL-handling insecurities
