"Twice as many people have declared their candidacy for membership on the board of directors of the GNOME Foundation as there are directors to be elected. Among them is Richard M. Stallman, who was unsuccessful in his candidacy for the board last year, as well as numerous people familiar in the GNOME development community.

"Stallman, founder of the free software movement, fell short of gaining the needed votes when he sought board membership last year.

"The current board is made up of Jonathan Blandford, Miguel de Icaza, Nat Friedman, Jim Gettys, Jody Goldberg, Telsa Gwynne, James Henstridge, George Lebl, Federico Mena-Quintero, Havoc Pennington, and Daniel Veillard. Of these, Bladford, De Icaza, Friedman, Goldgerg, Henstridge, Mena-Quintero, and Veillard seek re-election. De Icaza, Mena-Quintero, and Veillard have been on the board for two years..."
