"The visiting Sun Microsystems chairman Scott McNealy, known for his anti-Microsoft stand, did not let go off any opportunity on Thursday to hit out at his arch rival Bill Gates.

"The Microsoft bashing began right from the start of his presentation at the Nasscom event where his opening line to the audience was, 'You do not need a Microsoft office...This is a Star Office presentation...'

"Countering the reports that Linux was killing Sun, he said, 'I cannot disagree with that more and the company that is going to be hammered by Linux is Microsoft...'"

Mid-Day.com: Sun Announces $300 mn Donation

"Visiting Sun Microsystems chief Scott McNealy today announced the company would donate software worth 300 million dollars to Indian student researchers in India for non-commercial usage.

"'This donation is for giving them access to experiment with our software. The donation would also be with respect to online training for universities and academic use,' McNealy told reporters after a meeting with Communications and IT Minister Arun Shourie here..."
