"The New South Wales Labor Party will be urged to adopt a policy platform on the use of open source software, in a motion to the ALP's State Conference by the Labor Council.

"At a time when the Carr government under newly-installed IT Minister John Della Bosca is conducting a review of its policies toward open source software, the proposed Labor Council motion seeks to incorporate open source options within the Labor Party's state branch policy platform.

"NSW Labor Council's IT Committee last night conducted an information forum at state parliament house on Wednesday evening on the open source movement aimed at educating parliamentarians about software procurement options..."
