San Mateo County Times: Expert Says Linux May be 'Inevitable'

"David D. Frye, the man whose 'job is to make Linux run better' at IBM's laboratory for the open source operating system, sees the day when the average computer user, home or office, will be using a computer run on open-source software. Perhaps in as little as two years, he surmised.

"Despite the recent challenge confronting the industry surrounding the operating system known as Linux brought by the SCO Group, Frye said the widespread adoption and success of Linux is 'historically inevitable.'
