"We'll admit our first reaction to rumors, then news of
openSUSE.org was a sigh followed quickly by eyebrow-raising
interest. The rumor mill yielded a good bit of warning that it was
on its way, so the official word came as no surprise. And let's
face it, enterprise-backed open source endeavors aren't exactly
revolutionary at this point: Red Hat has the Fedora Project and Sun
has Open Solaris, IBM offers a steady stream of software patents
flowing to the open source community, and we won't even touch on
companies like JBoss, sendmail, or Jabber (whose core products are
free, yet are most assuredly for-profit entities)..."
