"The founders of Oregon State University's Open Source Lab are
leaving the organization to run a Portland startup, the school
announced Thursday, creating a void at the top of one of the
state's best-known open source organizations. Scott Kveton and
Jason McKerr started the lab in 2003, helping build Oregon's
reputation for open source activity. The OSU lab hosts the
kernel--the core software--of the Linux operation system and the
infrastructure for the Mozilla project, which maintains the free
