"Bernard Leach: The ipodlinux project is about opening up the iPod platform to a wide audience of enthusiasts that would love to see the iPods do more that what the Apple software includes. As a consumer device the iPod has excelled for many reasons, one of them being that its first and foremost a Mp3 player. That focus has allowed Apple to develop a device that's so simple anyone can pick it up and start using it right out of the box. As enthuiasts though, we're always looking to make it do more--can't play back your FLAC encoded music, can't enjoy a game of Tetris on your Nano--ipodlinux is one way of letting those enthuiasts at the hardware to develop their own applications..."
