Canonical
Announces Availability of Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop Edition
"Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop Edition delivers a range of feature
enhancements to improve the user experience. Shorter boot speeds,
some as short as 25 seconds, ensure faster access to a full
computing environment on most desktop, laptop and netbook models.
Enhanced suspend-and-resume features also give users more time
between charges along with immediate access after hibernation.
Intelligent switching between Wi-Fi and 3G environments has been
broadened to support more wireless devices and 3G cards, resulting
in a smoother experience for most users."

Ubuntu
'Jaunty Jackalope' Jumps Linux Forward
"Additional improvements on the desktop include improved suspend
and resume capability on notebooks as well as additional support
for 3G and Wi-Fi mobile connectivity. "Jaunty" will also include by
default OpenOffice.org version 3, which came out just before the
Ibex release last year, but it was too late in the Ubuntu release
process for it to be included."
Ubuntu
9.04 Released
"After six alphas, a beta and a release candidate, we are pleased
to announce that Ubuntu 9.04 is here, today (April 23rd), available
on mirrors worldwide (see the download links at the end of the
article), and it's our greatest pleasure to introduce you guys to
the highlights of this new release dubbed Jaunty Jackalope. It all
began on September 8th, 2008, when Mark Shuttleworth announced the
Jaunty Jackalope, also known as Ubuntu 9.04, the next major release
of the popular Ubuntu Linux operating system. Ubuntu 9.04 is also
the tenth release of the Ubuntu OS and will be supported for 18
months on both servers and desktops."
First Look at Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope
"In these times of a lame-duck release of Windows (Vista), Ubuntu
has been earning a reputation as a reliable and simple operating
system that allows its users to get things done. Amongst the
Internet intelligentsia, Ubuntu has become a realistic operating
system choice, alongside Windows and OS X. Dell recently embraced
Ubuntu as an option on its desktops and notebooks, placing the
operating system on the same commercial footing as Windows,
too."
