"Correct Time & Date Display
Depending on the location in which you live, the way that KDE displays the date and time (at least in Kubuntu) is a bit strange. I prefer the date format as “MM-DD-YYYY” (for example, 08-16-2009) but you can set it to whatever you wish. Go to “System Settings > Regional & Language > Country/Region & Language > Time & Dates tab” to configure this. You will need to log out and then log in to see the difference.

"Combine Virtual Desktops With Plasma Activities
The way that KDE sets up activities is clumsy and weird. An “activity” is a group of plasma widgets that you can switch to by “zooming out” of your current desktop and “zooming in” to another. This looks very weird and is not very practical. Instead, you can combine virtual desktops and plasma activities into one entity. To do this, first configure your virtual desktops. Rightclick the desktop pager on your panel and click “configure desktops”. Choose how many virtual desktops you want, and give them each a name if you wish."
