"I have heard of my geeky friends talking about this
Linux stuff. I wasn't sure what it was so I asked them about it.
Honestly, I thought they were trying to sell me some religion the
way they jumped all over me trying to explain what Linux is. They
did make some very good points though. I have always felt
uncomfortable with using a pirated version of windows but I can't
justify the expense of buying an original version. I am also tired
of all the problems I have been having because of virus and spyware
infestations. These Linux guys tell me that they don't have any
problems with that stuff.
"So I decided to give it a try. They said that I could run Linux
straight off of the CD without having to install it. I didn't
believe them. How could a computer operating system run off of a
CDROM? My windows needs at least 10GB of hard disk space and they
expect me to run this Linux off of a 700MB CD? I shrugged my
shoulders and quoted a famous line from the Risky Business movie
and booted off of the CD. Well this Linux stuff started booting up
after asking me about keyboards and language and I sat waiting. It
seemed to take forever to start up. Just when my patience ran out
and I was going to go back to my comfortable windows this Linux
finished starting up."
