"Although technically our Soyuz system (which I've nicknamed
'Soyuz-SF') is fictional, and intended to be about 30 years in the
future, the Soyuz design hasn't changed much over the last 40
years, and so this one will be based on the current "Soyuz-FG"
"My goal here was to create a model of the launch vehicle with
each stage separately grouped so that it will be possible to
animate the staging process (in a later column, I'll rig the model
to make animation simpler).
"This is not exactly a tutorial. These modelling tasks are
challenging for me as well (part of the fun of these projects is
learning how to use the tools), and my goal here is to explain how
we're solving problems, without necessarily going into blow-by-blow
detail. So, if you want to follow along, you should already be
familiar with using Blender. For beginners, I recommend the Blender
3D Course from Tufts University."
