"'Web 2.0' means next generation internet, to put it bluntly.
It's supposed to create a desire to own, purchase, use, or cause
curiosity. Two point Oh has come to mean "2nd generation" in the
minds of most Western consumers. I do not ever say "consumer" in a
nice tone of voice, to me being a "consumer" is at best an insult.
Web 2.0 is intended to insult you, and it should.
"The impact of this preceding statement is similar to the
following: Your dog chases the new ball you bought him, and you use
this new ball fascination to catch him so you can put a new
electric shock collar on him. You say "Good boy!" and pat him
behind the ears. Then you begin shock therapy in about 15 minutes
after the dog forgets about the collar. "Stay," you say, making the
gesture, and walk away. If the dog moves he gets a little zap. It
won't take long before the dog figures out that the only way to
avoid being zapped is to sit still. 'Stay' becomes etched on his
little doggy mind."
