"The open source feed reader NewsBlur is ready to make a play
for your attention, adding not just link-sharing but multi-user
rating and intelligence.
NewsBlur has been in development since 2010, the brainchild of
developer Samuel Clay. Although all of the source code is hosted at
GitHub (and under the permissive MIT license), Clay is openly
trying to use the service as a funding source, by hosting a
NewsBlur service on the newsblur.com domain. You can sign up with a
NewsBlur account for free, if you can live with the limitation of
64 active feeds. Alternatively, you can remove the feed-limit and
get a pay-what-you-choose plan.
