“After receiving the Mighty Mite from GNUPC.com, I ran home and
pulled it out of the box like a kid on Christmas morning. The
first thing you will find is a PILE of CD’s, 7 distributions of
Linux (Red Hat 6.1, Mandrake 6.1, Debian 1.2, Slackware 7.0, SuSE
6.2, OpenLinux 2.3 , and Turbo Linux 3.6). This is the point where
you have to make an important choice, which distribution will I
use. This is an option not many other companies give.
I would
say it depends on your needs, and that is another article
all-together (and a touchy subject in the Linux community).
Actually my choice at the moment was not one included with the
package but I had been itching to try none the less. Mandrake
7.0.”

“This kind of setup is real nice, it allows you to try different
distribution to see which one works best for you. With many of
other companies you are stuck with what they give you (usually Red
Hat). Maybe Slackware would be better for your needs, or Debian is
more in line with you ‘philosophical’ stance on Linux. I really
like having the choice, plus down the line I can always just throw
a CD and switch distributions. A very nice feature….”
