IW: Tucows Launches The Internet’s First Official BSD Download Site

“Tucows, Inc., a leading digital distributor on the Internet,
announced today the launch of its new BSD download site, the
latest addition to its network of software distribution sites.
Located at bsd.tucows.com or through www.tucows.com, the site is
the first to support all of the OpenSource BSD titles.

Originally one operating system (OS), BSD was the Berkely Software
Distribution of UNIX, developed at the University of California
Berkley, before being split into four flavors. The OpenSource
versions are now available at bsd.tucows.com: FreeBSD, NetBSD, and
OpenBSD. Users can download the full operating system as well as
numerous software titles, some of which include games, file
managers, graphics, and administrative tools. The launch of the BSD
site re-establishes Tucows as a leading software and online
resource marketplace on the Internet.”

“We are moving forward as a company to strengthen our commitment
to the open source community,” said Scott Swedorski, Founder and
Editor in Chief of Tucows. “We are striving to evolve in order to
better serve our users as well as attract new ones.”
