Korea Herald: Microsoft’s dominance in local market challanged

“Windows runs on more than 90 percent of the world’s personal
computers and will likely retain its dominance for some time. But
it already faces increasingly stiff competition from other
alternative software producers.”

The biggest challenge comes from Linux, the open-source
operating system which is increasing its share in the world market
for servers and other large computers.

“Linux was first developed by Linus Torvalds in the early 1990s
and has been updated by volunteer programmers around the
world.”
