Linux business market. After the hype which surrounded the
release of the 2.4.0 kernel, I guess it’s safe to say that everyone
expected a bit of a quiet period as the industry re-organised
it’s products…”

visible Linux companies have been quietly bleeding. Last week
NewsForge alleged that TurboLinux is quietly losing more than 40 of
it’s 120 staff in it’s California office. Quite a significant
amount! 120 people is not a huge company – but when you consider
that TurboLinux could be cutting 1/3 of it’s US based workforce,
this is maybe grounds for worry.”

“Another company suffering problems this month has been Suse.
Suse is the leading European Linux distributor, and due to the
quality of it’s Linux distribution, has been making inroads into
the American market. … However, Suse last week laid off around 12
people from their US workforce – leaving only a token presence in
the US of A.”
