“I have been a computer enthusiast for many years, walked
through the days of Windows3.1 up to Windows98, NT4 (with its 5
service packs) and Windows2000beta. I was very eager to try the new
operating system that is touted as being much more stable and
reliable than other Operating Systems….”
“I have yet to see any television commercial advertising Linux,
yet most of the IT people I know and others surrounding them know
of or use LINUX. Ask the same people if they have used OS2Warp, BE
or the Macintosh OS and many have never had a chance to argue that
it is not a major OS that they will ever have to utilize. The other
advantage that Linux has is that it is a cut from UNIX, one of the
most powerful and widely implemented Network platforms. Unix also
has a client base, now many do not have the computer power to run
such a platform but what if you could have the same efficiency and
stability but on your home PC, enter LINUX.”
“What is Linux? Can “I” use it on my PC? Well not quite! I now
eagerly have my Redhat/Caldera versions of Linux and I’m ready to
install. I have set-up the Linux partitions and the set-up is going
great until the video set-up! No mater what I tried, I could
not set-up my Creative TNT2 Ultra card. Hmmm, my first and major
hurdle. The autodetection of the video setup has greatly improved
but no mater what I try, I can not setup video with
LINUX….“
