“K12 Linux is, “a site dedicated to using Linux and other Open
Source software in our elementary and/or secondary school systems
(public, private, charter and home) . We hope to provide those
of you who are considering implementing Linux with enough
information to make an informed decision by providing cost analysis
and case studies from various school systems around the world,
and to help those of you who are in the process of implementing
Linux by sharing information, knowledge and wisdom gained from
those who have gone before us.” This site is aimed at school
administrators and teachers who might be interested in Linux, but
who need a little advocacy to convince them to try it.”
“On the SEUL/edu mailing list we had some discussion about using
XML to define a common data format for LingoTeach, QVocab,
Pangée, and other language-learning applications. Although
no specific plans were agreed to, people from each of the mentioned
projects weighed in with their thoughts. The idea of a standard
data format is now on the table; we’ll see what comes of it.”
“AUC has made available a preliminary version of their API for
plugins. You can get a copy of it from the download page at their
website. The API doesn’t yet allow extensions to the Interactive
Classrooms, but that’s planned for the future.”
