“Three of the most prominent companies to emerge from the space
have been Red Hat, the leading vendor of the open source clone of
Unix; Linuxcare, a company which provides support for all builds of
Linux; and VA Linux Systems, the leading Linux Hardware vendor. The
three announced Tuesday they would join forces in a new seminar
series designed to educate people about Linux. The “Linux-So What?”
series was developed to teach CEOs and CIOs about Linux and open
source.”
“It’s in the Fortune 1000,” said Linuxcare chief technical
officer Dave Sifry of Linux. “The question is, do CIOs know its in
the Fortune 1000?”
“One problem is that when they find out their engineers are
running Linux, many IT managers try to stamp it out. This nine part
series of videos and other education materials will seek to combat
this practice. They will be available by the middle of next month
through these companies and through the Linux.com open source
portal site.”
